Superb to read your poem, with the implied decadence of Martini drinking. Also loved your tales of adolescent drinking. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with us. Look forward to the EBB episodes. Thank you and many congratulations. Much deserved.
Firstly, congrats on your recent awards success, you must be over the moon. Secondly, I love this poem so much. I too often think of those semi self destructive three martini afternoons. The glamour! But also I can't help feeling like the martinis might so easily have been the match that lit the bonfire every time, especially after a brutal poetry workshop. Love this post!
"Straight up with a twist" is a perfect description of poetry in general isn't it ? Love being part of your circle, Clare, and congratulations on your award!
I'll write the poem if you share the recipe for the Quarantini!😊🍸 You have phantastic (Yes, ESL speakers are allowed creative spelling!) names for your cocktails, Clare
Sorry thought I’d added a picture - trying again: it’s Benedictine, cherry brandy, lime juice and gin infused with kaffir lime and lemongrass - sort of like an improved Singapore sling

Can’t remember the exact proportions but this was the vibe… recompense for a cancelled trip to Asia!
